Scenes of Boston

As promised, here are pics of my last day in Boston. Once I knew we were definitely moving back to Seattle, I spent a marathon Saturday from 12pm-7pm seeing everything I wanted to one last time. My day started with getting lost around Charlestown and ending up in a neighborhood with only El Salvador stores....it was a little un-nerving. I re-grouped and got myself to a parking lot in the North End. From there I explored the North End, went Paul Revere's house, had lunch (lobster raviloi!) at a little Italian cafe, cruised thru the Paul Revere Mall up past the Old North Church, over to Copp's Burying Ground, then across the Charles River over to the USS Constitution and USS Cassin Young. Then I headed back over the river to the Fanuiel Hall area and downtown....then thru the Common and Public Garden and over to the famed Newbury Street shopping area. I went down one side for about 8 blocks, then back up the other side. Went to this amazing department store, Louis Boston, and browsed at Prada Shoes, $500 jeans, etc....I didn't buy anything there, but lots of beautiful things to look at. By the time I started heading back to my car, my joints were getting sore from walking. Not sure how many miles I walked, but I was feeling it the next day. I'm defintiely not 18 anymore! HA So, in conclusion, Boston is a city not to be missed!! I've posted these pics small in order to fit many on this and my next post, so you may have to click on them to see closer detail. ENJOY!!!

Mo-Po show is dead

I saw this one coming a mile away. Did anyone even watch the Maurey-Connie chat fest??

Absolutely Bizarre Story

In case you missed this one, thought I would pass this story along to my readers. It is very uplifting!!

Did Ann Coulter really go too far?

I'm in the midst of reading her new book, Godless, and I have yet to come to the part that has created so much controversy. People sure have gotten into a tizzy over these supposed nasty remarks aboust some 9-11 widows. What is funny, is that Ann often vocalizes what many of us internalize, but the MSM wants to appear sensitive and "PC", so they come down on her like a ton of bricks. This is a free country and she can say what she likes. What I find so typical is that she is getting blasted, while the Dixie Chicks were left alone for the most part, and they bashed a sitting President while in another country!! That rates far higher on the nasty scale for me.

What I am up to this Sunday afternoon

Currently I am doing the following on my spare time:

Reading Ann Coulter's new book, Godless.
Listening to Prince's new CD, 3121 and Red Hot Chili Pepper's new Cd, Stadium Arcadium.
Drinking Bottega Pinot Gris - YUMMY

Ok, actually I am only reading and drinking. The CD's are in my car, so doing that while driving around.

We are back in Seattle!!

Words cannot describe how happy Rob and I are to be back in Seattle! We love the Northwest and never want to leave. It took us a 6,000 round trip journey to bring us home, both to new jobs we love and a new, bigger apartment in our old building on Cap Hill. Even Janni and our cats know they are home where they belong. I will never forget my time on the east coast (good and bad)! We arrived last Tuesday, May 30th and began the exhausting task of un-loading the U-Haul and getting settled in. Thankfully, I did not start my new job until Monday June 5th, so was able to have 5 days to get unpacked and somewhat organized in our new place. We still have a ways to go, but at least our apt is livable for the moment.

I have some Boston pics I will post next from the last day I spent there before we moved. Boston was an amazing city and I am so happy I had the chance to explore it. But, I have to say there is nothing like our Seattle with the mountains, water, boats, hiking, parks, etc....

FURRY 5K

Here is an event Janni and were in today. We did the walk. It was so much fun!! Lots of dogs everywhere. This event supported the Seattle Animal Shelter. Pictures were taken of us at the finish line, so I will post those once I get them. :-)

Update on our lives....

Here's a little update for y'all: We're moving back to Seattle!! Yes, after 4 short months on the east coast, we're packing it up and going home. Rob accepted a better position at the Tacoma Narrows airport in Gig Harbor and I will be persuing opportunities in Seattle and/or Bellevue/Redmond area. We will be living in Kent, WA which is kind of 1/2 way between our jobs. We are hitting the road a week from today, May 26th and think it will take us about 7 days - we plan to see Mt. Rushmore on the way back.
So, at this point now I've had 3 addresses in less than 6 months. Nice!! The post office surely will somehow mess this all up.

I-90 HERE WE COME!!!

New England Aquarium: 05-14-2006

Here are some pics from our trip yesterday to the aquarium in Boston. We spent alot of time with the penguin exhibit, as well as checking out the gigantic sea turtles. Had a great time.

Why George, Why??

Oh George Michael.....why must you disappoint me with all your run-in's with the cops? Can't you just concentrate on making kick ass dance music? Please, go back to the music and lay off the GHB!!

Iran lectures US to be Christian???!!!

WHHHHHAATTTT? This guy is giving our country lectures on returning to Christian roots? Give me a break!! How about he let his countrymen return to their Persian roots and get Islam out of there?? Yea, like that is going to happen. This guys is NUTS!!!
BTW..in case you hadn't noticed....I can't stand the president of Iran.

Bring on the FUG

This much tan and this much bad hair say FUG all the way.
This makes my hair look good, if I do say so myself!!

My hair is now slightly better....

Here is how I was feeling at first about my botched haircut......

And here I am with my bangs a little bit grown out.....so there is a slight light at the end of the tunnel.

Boston is cool

Went to Boston today to shop for a couple hours. It was super drizzly - perfect Seattle weather. Even had some wind, so my umbrella turned inside out. Such fun when you are schlepping bags and a coffee thru Beacon Hill.

Amherst, NH: 04-26-2006

Yesterday, while waiting for some laundry to dry, I took a drive out to Amherst, NH, which is a small village about 10 miles outside of Nashua. It was like stepping into the 18th century! Beautiful village! Here are some quick pics I snapped. I love this wonderful 18th century home - so elegant. It was kept up very well on the outside. The grave marker here I thought was very interesting. Very common type of marker for the 1700's. Saw this style in Boston as well - note that the angel is holding up a sword. Also inscribed across the top are the words "memento mori", which seems to mean "remember thy death".

Super cute pic of our sweet little Matty

Alec Baldwin is a certified nutjob

Tom - Katie update - it's getting weirder

Click here for Tom's latest quote on Katie's life. Can't this woman ever speak for herself?? Oh that's right.....she's too busy popping out alien babies for the Tom man at the compound in Bev. Hills.

Portsmouth, NH: 04-10-2006

Portsmouth is the 3rd oldest town in the U.S. These pictures do not do it justice. We loved this place and wish we could move there. It's right on the coast, has a little harbor and was like a mini-Boston. Cool vibe, cool restaurants, shopping, etc.... Can't wait to go back!

Where are the parents?

What kind of parents raise a kid like this? This kid is a serial killer in the making. Scary!! I hope he gets the maximum penalty for this appaling act of cruelty!

Seacoast N.H. - 04-10-2006

Yesterday, we went over to Hampton Beach, NH. NH has only 18 miles of coastline to explore. This area has a 3 miles long boardwalk which reminds me of how Atlantic City, NJ must look like. I can't think of any area of the Oregon coast that can compare....maybe Seaside. Everything was closed up for the season - I'm guessing Hampton Beach is open for business from Memorial Day thru Labor Day. There were alot of really nice beachfront houses.... The temp was about 60 degress with a little bit of wind. No one on the beach at all, so it was a great trip.

January 2006 - my last weekend in Seattle

Colin, Julee, me and Dale
Me, Colin, Julee
Julee and Dale
Julee and me - yikes, look at how pale I am. ML needs a tan!!!

Prior to moving on Jan 23rd, my family from Vancouver, WA came up for a visit that last weekend. My brother Colin is a junior at UW, so we spent time over at his house in Wallingford, as well as many wonderful meals out and lots of great adult beverages! HA

New Pic

Here I am with my friend Naarah @ Sarafina in Seattle having an excellent glass of red wine. SALUT!

Sorry? I don't think so....

The guy in this news story is not sorry he made the comments....only sorry he got caught.!! Sheesh - let's be honest at least.....

I cut my hair..... It's not good....

Here is what I was going for, but longer....below is what I got. Sigh.

Here are two poses of me in our living room. My hair, up to this point was about 5-6 inches longer. What I wanted was the above Nicole Ritchie style, but only like 2 inches shoter than what I had, thus about 4 inches longer than what you see here.....also with much longer side-swept bangs. When I pull my hair back now, I resemble Rob - we have morphed into twins now. yikes...... God help me while I find the patience to grow this out...

More great weather in store....

Oh Boy!! A news report came out today that the New England area is due for a hurricane...as early as this season!! Now there is something for Rob and I to look forward too. We've sruvived the ice cold temps out here, so bring it on!!

King's Chapel and Burying Ground - downtown Boston

This chapel is right in downtown. Inside photography is not allowed. This burying ground is right next to the chapel. Both are across the street from a very modern skyscraper.

Something smells like Eugene, OR

I told y'all I thought this guy reeked of Eugene.....and now Ace of Spades confirms it. Ha!

Mini-Reese's - are 2 wrappers needed?

Why do this little tiny bites of joy HAVE to have two wrappers? Isn't the point of the mini candy bar is the ease at which you can stuff your face with 1..... or 10? Here I am trying to enjoy a couple and it's taken me 10 miutes of prep time with the wrappers.....now I've lost interest all together....

Ode to the VERY ugly Ugg Boot

Please my friend, CLICK HERE, for a very funny blog entry. I had tears running out of my eyes reading this. Of course, there are probably a total of 2 people in this world that get my sense of humor, so I will understand if you do not experience the same level of funny that I did.
ENJOY!!

Iran wants to rumble with the U.S.

Let the ball roll? OK Iran, bring it on then....just bring it on!!

Please, for the love of GOD -stop with the plastic surgery!!

Enough already with the brow-lift and the lip injections. Yuck, yuck and even more yuck!!
Click HERE to see what I'm referring to.

Score one for the meat eaters!!

Take THAT PETA!!

I discovered a new wine

Well, so far Nashua is lacking in a wine shoppe that even comes close to Pete's on Eastlake in Seattle. The grocery store pickings is slim - only Columbia Crest for a WA wine and the usual big name Napa wines. There is a place here called New Hampshire Wine Outlet - it's ok. They sell regular liquor too. Today, after getting soup/salad for lunch , I went to this place on my way back to the office and discovered 3 Blind Moose. It was on sale for $8.99 so gave the Cabernet a whirl. It's pretty good. Very drinkable. But I do have a confession.....I kind of bought it for the label b/c the moose were cracking me up.

What the the hell is this???

So, what's the deal here.... you just put on some tights, a shirt, boots and call it good? I don't get it? Why is Sienna Miller some fashion godess? I clearly am missing something, as I'm not this hip. Last time I checked, going out of the house in just control-top tights was a big No-No.

Oscar Predictions - Ann Coulter style!

Here's a run-down of Oscar night as only Ann Coulter can give you. This is funny stuff people. READ HERE

Did this guy go to UofO?

He looks like he just flew in from Eugene, OR. What an idiot.

Homicide Bomber movie up for Oscar

Lordy, Lordy, Lordy.... Sigh. What can I say. I guess in the Palestinian culture, they really take "an eye for an eye" seriously. Of course it is not surprising that the Hollywood, diversity-loving elitists have nominated a movie like Paradise Now. The director of this film, in the interview linked here, admits sympathy for homicide bombers. sick, sick, sick....

Silly little Madonna

Hey Madonna, weren't you raised Catholic? By that, you should know that the Messiah has alraedy come and will come again - so who are you waiting for in Israel??
Perhaps you should revisit your own song, Like A Prayer, for a clue.

For those of you who read.....An author I recommend

I received My Sisters Keeper by Jodi Picoult for Christmas from Julee (for those of you who don't know who she is, Julee is my mother up in Vancouver, WA).....what an awesome book. I can't put down any of Jodi's books. I'm very excited about discovering this author, and she in fact lives here in NH up near Dartmouth College.
I highly recommend this book as well as any other by this author. I've read Vanishing Acts, The Pact and just started Plain Truth.

The Clinton Foundation is looking for interns

WOA!! Sign me up!! Scroll thru this link to the middle, where you will see "hands on experience". Who was the brainiac who wrote that??!! Bill Clinton never fails to me me laugh...not with him, but at him. Such a bafoon.

A former Taliban offical attending Yale??

Wow, I am really out of the loop on the news cycle. I finally went to Michelle Malkin's site today after not checking it for a few weeks. My eyes were very wide reading THIS. I'm beyond flabbergasted, beyond words.....

Check out how adorable our two cats are. Matty is the pretty princess, and Apollo is the big orange boy. MEOW!
